Thailand has decided to use Ukrainian T-84 "Oplot" tanks on the border with Cambodia, writes Defense blog.
"Local media and military observers in Thailand report that the Royal army used tanks during the assault on Cambodian military positions near the border," the article says.
According to the text of the publication, the Royal Thai Army purchased 49 combat vehicles back in 2011.
The escalation of the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia turned into an armed phase on Thursday morning. After the shootings in the border area, the parties exchanged artillery strikes, Phnom Penh used Grad multiple launch rocket systems, including civilian targets. Bangkok, in turn, carried out an airstrike on the locations of the Cambodian armed forces. There are dead and wounded on both sides, including civilians. The authorities of four provinces of Thailand bordering Cambodia announced the evacuation of residents amid escalation, the local newspaper Nation reports.
