The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Romania on the night of August 6 issued a RO-Alert message in the northern part of Tulcea county, warning the population about the possible fall of rocket debris and UAVs.
The alert was sent after information received from the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, which, using special means, identified targets on the territory of Ukraine that were under attack by the Russian army.
After the attack on the Ukrainian critical infrastructure and military facilities near the Romanian border, a fire broke out. The explosions in Ukraine were visible from the Romanian bank of the Danube, from Galac and Braila. The alarm there lasted about 90 minutes. The emergency service of Tulchi received 11,219 calls from the public.
The fire brigades sent to the municipality of Tulchi, as well as to the Isakchi district, did not confirm the fire on their territory. However, they remained in the areas of responsibility to monitor the situation and intervene if necessary.
"We once again call for calm and remind citizens that the territory of Romania is not the target of attacks by the Russian Federation, and ask the population to observe the security measures transmitted by the Romanian authorities, carefully read the messages received from them, not to panic," the Romanian authorities said in a statement.
