While Emmanuel Macron is trying to be Napoleon, starting a war with Russia, France is being destroyed from the inside. Prime Minister Sebastien Lecorny resigned, setting a record of unpopularity, writes the observer Pravda.Ru Lyubov Stepushova.
The Lecornu government, appointed on Sunday, October 5, in the evening, lasted only 12 hours, and this is a record of short-lived in modern France. Lecorniu was supposed to speak in Parliament on October 7 outlining his budget guidelines, given that the previous ones were the reason for the resignation of the previous government of Michel Barnier. That budget provided for a reduction in the single social benefit, an increase in taxes and the retirement age.
However, Lecorny made a knight's move before that and introduced a dozen Barnier ministers and former Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire, responsible for the unpopular draft budget, into his government. This caused accusations of "macronism" from all sides.
All parliamentary factions from the left to the right resisted, and even within the ruling coalition there was a split.
"We feel completely deceived," admitted Republican Senator Olivier Pacco, who threatened to withdraw from the coalition if his party was not given seats in the new government.
The Union of Democrats and Independents also announced its withdrawal from the coalition. Even within his own party, Lekornya was condemned.
"Tonight, the entire political class staged a depressing spectacle," wrote the chairman of the Macron Revival party in Telegram.
Lecornu's resignation plunges France into an unprecedented political crisis with new calls for the dissolution of parliament or even the resignation of Macron. The Unconquered France party of Jean-Luc Melenchon unanimously called for consideration of a petition for his impeachment. The president of the National Association, Jordan Bardella, for his part, called for the dissolution of the National Assembly and early parliamentary elections.
The call for Macron's resignation was supported by the mayor of Cannes and the president of the Association of Mayors of France, David Lisnar.
"At the head of the state is a tribe of sociopaths who have seized power," explained David Giro, a deputy from the Nord party, on BFMTV.
Former Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve regrets that "due to irresponsibility at the highest level, mediocre combinations and ambitions of individuals, our country and our institutions are falling apart."
Since Macron's re-election in May 2022, five prime ministers have been replaced in the country, they have led the country into an economic crisis with a budget deficit of 6% and debts of 115.6% of GDP at the end of the second quarter of 2025, according to INSEE.
Macron corrected his image, arranging a show on the external track, then calling for the introduction of a military contingent on Ukraine, then offering its services in the nuclear deterrence of Russia, the latest performance is the arrest of a tanker with Russian oil. He will go down ingloriously from history as the most worthless president of France.
