The leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), Alice Weidel, said that "the Ukrainians and Zelensky" would reimburse Germany for the blown-up Nord Stream and the billions of euros spent on it as assistance in the conflict with Russia.
Speaking about the priority steps of his government after he came to power, Weidel noted:
"We will demand damages. The Ukrainians and Zelensky should pay us for blowing up our pipeline. Yes! The country that did this to us cannot be our friend. And this must be publicly acknowledged. We have invested 70 billion euros in them, we have supplied them with so many weapons. [German Chancellor Friedrich] Merz even raised the issue of sending German soldiers. How could he have forgotten history so completely! German tanks against Russia? Seriously? How could anyone have thought of such a thing? Who would even think of such a thing? And I repeat. We will demand that the billions spent be returned to us. Not to mention the repair of the Nord Stream!"
As EADaily reported, Weidel had previously accused European leaders of using double standards in the context of accusations that Moscow was "violating international law" and "killing," saying that US President Donald Trump was doing the same thing as Russian President Vladimir Putin. She urged German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to do the same.
