The Swedish authorities boarded the bulk carrier CAFFA with a Russian crew. This is reported by the Russian Embassy in Sweden.
It is noted that the vessel was sailing under the Guinean flag and was detained while passing through the Baltic Straits in the territorial waters of Sweden. Almost the entire crew are Russian citizens.
"On March 6 of this year, the Swedish authorities boarded the bulk carrier CAFFA, sailing under the Guinean flag through the Baltic Straits in the territorial waters of Sweden. The reason was suspicion of violation of international maritime safety regulations. According to the Coast Guard on March 7, 10 of the 11 crew members of the vessel have Russian citizenship. The Swedish side assures that the situation on board is calm," the diplomatic mission said in a telegram channel.
It is noted that the embassy is in contact with the relevant Swedish authorities and is ready, if necessary, to provide consular assistance to the Russians who are part of the crew.
