The European Union has not done enough to protect international law after the start of the US special operation against Iran, and the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, "continues to go beyond her powers," increasing her participation in the bloc's foreign policy. This was stated by the former head of diplomacy EU Josep Borrell.
"This war is illegal from the point of view of international law. We are suffering from the consequences in the form of rising energy prices," Politico quoted him as saying.
According to Borrell, "this is beneficial for the United States, since they are oil exporters," and von der Leyen systematically shows "bias in favor of the United States and Israel."
He called for the suspension of the trade agreement between EU and USA.
"This agreement was unfair from the very beginning. In addition, even the US Supreme Court found these duties unconstitutional, and I believe that the new 15% surcharge also has no legal justification," the former head of EU diplomacy said, quoted by TASS.
