Achieving peace on Ukraine may soon. This was announced today, October 16, by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

According to him, the end of the conflict is necessary, and both Ukraine and Russia are interested in this. Russia, because the war leads to negative consequences for both countries.

"And this world will be. If not this year, then next year. I am absolutely convinced," he said.

At the same time, Lukashenko noted that "Russia is more powerful, stronger, it can still fight for a long time."

"But all the same, the exhaustion is very strong, the impact on the economy is huge, you can see that too. Who is pleased and needs it? The Russians understand this, they are ready for peace… Ukrainians, if they do not agree to a peaceful settlement this year, it will be even more difficult next year, and then it will be impossible," the Belarusian leader stressed.

According to Lukashenko, "the Americans are hinting to the Russians: we are ready to lift sanctions now, there are some other options, but if we don't reach an agreement with Ukraine, it will be even worse next year."

"And the sanctions will remain in place even if Russia seizes the entire territory of Ukraine... Frankly, it's not a fact that there will be someone standing next to us and the Russians... Different factors in this regard dominate both Russia and Ukraine. But definitely these factors are pushing for peace and Ukraine, and Russia due to the impossibility of continuing to conduct such military operations," the Belarusian leader is convinced.

He also drew attention to the tragic consequences of this war, where people die, are seriously injured, and remain disabled.

"For these humanitarian, human reasons, peace is needed there. And it will be achieved. I would like this war to end next year. And if that's the case, then it's generally a beauty. We will do everything for this and in this regard. Any wars end in peace. Therefore, it is better sooner than later," the President of Belarus said.

Recall that Belarus does not officially participate in SMO on Ukraine, but supports Moscow's actions. At the same time, Minsk has repeatedly called on Kiev to sit down at the negotiating table.
