The export of ferroalloys from Ukraine has fallen fivefold. Too expensive electricity, its shortage and logistics problems are killing the industry.

In January — May, Ukrainian enterprises reduced the supply of ferroalloys abroad by more than five times. If a year earlier exports amounted to 45 thousand tons, then this year — 5.53 thousand tons. This is reported by GMK Center based on data from the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

"The main volume of deliveries fell in May — 4.86 thousand tons (+76.1% m./m.; -19.7% y./y.), while in April — 2.75 thousand tons (+717% m./m.; -75.6% y./y.), in March — 0.34 thousand tons (+368% m./m.; -96% y./y.), in January — 0.76 thousand tons (-68.9% y. /m.; -90.8% y./y.), in February — 0.07 thousand tons — a record low," the specialized edition writes.

They noted that revenue also fell almost fivefold to $ 10.49 million.

Sergey Kudryavtsev, Executive Director of UKRFA, told GMK Center that the almost complete stop of exports reflects the general state of the industry at the beginning of 2026.

"After working in 2025 with a minimum load of about 10%, ferroalloy enterprises have been forced to stop work since January 19 due to a shortage of electricity and high prices for it, which form more than 50% of the cost of production," the expert said.

In addition, logistical problems exert additional pressure, in particular, the transportation of raw materials is difficult due to the disrupted communication between Manganese and Nikopol, as well as personnel difficulties and restrictions on the work of enterprises in the frontline zone.
