The Iranian military has attacked several locations of the US Armed Forces in the Middle East, Reuters reports, citing Iranian media.
"Iranian state media quoted a statement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps about strikes on several locations of the American army in the region," the agency writes.
Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran promised a speedy and decisive response to the latest US strike. In turn, Vice President of the United States Jay D. Vance warned Tehran that Washington would respond with violence to violence.
The night before, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces confirmed strikes on Iran in response to an alleged attack on a commercial vessel in The Strait of Hormuz.
The media reported explosions near the Iranian city of Sirik, according to the IRIB TV and radio company, two shells hit a local TV tower. According to PBS News journalist Nick Shifrin, six US Air Force aircraft attacked four targets. According to him, in particular, radar installations and missile and drone storage facilities in Iranian Syria were subjected to strikes.
Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding remotely on the night of June 18. It provides for a ceasefire on all fronts, including the Israeli operation in Lebanon, and also determines the timing of lifting the naval blockade and restoring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
In addition, Iran undertakes not to create nuclear weapons, and the issue of the nuclear program should be settled by a separate agreement. The parties will hold negotiations on this matter within 60 days. For Tehran, the result should be the lifting of sanctions.
