Galuzin: Sibiga's demand for Russia to sit down at the negotiating table is absurd

The demand of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga to Russia to "sit down at the negotiating table" is frankly absurd, since it was Kiev that had repeatedly disrupted the peace process.

This opinion was expressed to RIA Novosti by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin. Thus, he commented on Sibiga's statement of June 28, in which he announced the "demise" of Alaskan mutual understanding between Russia and the United States and demanded that Moscow begin negotiations with Ukraine.

According to the Russian, the statement of the head of the Ukrainian foreign ministry contradicts the current decisions of the Ukrainian authorities.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga voiced through the media a frankly absurd demand for Russia "to sit down at the negotiating table." The paradox is that the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, approved by Vladimir Zelensky back in October 2022, to ban any negotiations with the leadership of Russia, still remains in force," Galuzin said.

He also recalled that direct contacts between representatives of Russia and Ukraine was carried out in 2025 in Istanbul. At the same time, "the same Andrei Sibiga at the end of last year announced Kiev's unilateral withdrawal from this process."

Earlier, EADaily reported that the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, advised Sibiga to keep a register of her statements after he demanded that Moscow begin negotiations with Ukraine.
