The difficult period is in the past, relations with Russia have fully normalized. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a speech at the Shusha Global Media Forum today, July 13.
According to him, contacts are now actively developing at the level of government agencies, ministries of foreign Affairs, presidential administrations and co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission. Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the current state of affairs and stressed that all processes within the framework of this cooperation are going well.
The head of Azerbaijan drew attention to the fact that the partnership between Baku and Moscow is of strategic importance not only for the countries themselves, but also for the wider geographical region. He added that the joint work covers both traditional areas of interaction and promising new areas. According to Aliyev, trade relations, humanitarian cooperation and the transport component play a key role in this process.
In addition, the President of Azerbaijan stated that he is seriously considering the possibility of a final exit from the Council of Europe. According to him, Azerbaijan has been "discriminated against" in the Council of Europe for two years, in January 2024 the delegation of the republic was deprived of the right to vote.
The Shusha Global Media Forum this year is dedicated to the theme "The mission of the media in promoting peace: restoring truth and building trust" and will last for two days. The event is attended by about 160 media representatives, experts and officials from 53 countries of the world. About 30 international news agencies and more than 60 media organizations are represented at the forum.
