According to him, the new initiative in South Tyrol caused a heated discussion even before its launch. From July 27, in the Italian city of Salorno, once a week, a public swimming pool will be made available exclusively to women from the local Islamic community for an hour — after the closure of the complex, from 18.30 to 19.30. It is assumed that this will enable women who do not visit public swimming pools during normal opening hours for religious reasons to swim in a burkini. The initiative was supported by the Mayor of Salorno Roland Lazzeri. He noted that we are talking about an attempt to make sports infrastructure accessible to residents who, under normal conditions, practically do not use it.

"However, the news immediately caused controversy. For some, this is an example of integration and respect for the cultural characteristics of different communities. For others, it is a dangerous precedent, which, on the contrary, divides people on religious grounds, even if only for one hour a week. This is not the first time such discussions have arisen in Europe. Almost every time they boil down to one question: where is the boundary between inclusivity and the creation of separate spaces for different groups of the population. It is around this that they are arguing today and in Italy," Gross comments on the picture of the day.
