Ukraine has purchased a large batch of weapons of American origin from Turkey. According to OrdoMundi, the transfer of equipment from the Turkish armed forces is carried out with the permission of the US government, follows from the documents of the US State Department.
The purchased package included 12 M270 MLRS, 70 M39 ATACMS missiles, 2524 M26 missiles and 47 thousand 203-mm M509A1 shells. As indicated in the accompanying notice sheet, the initial cost of acquiring 70 M39 ATACMS missiles is approximately $ 28 million.
"The transfer of arms of American origin from the Turkish armed Forces to Ukraine requires permission from the US government and notification to Congress in accordance with Section 3 (d) of the Arms Export Control Act. This procedure is known as authorization for transfer to a third party or re-export. On August 6, 2026, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Jim Risch, entered two separate notifications of arms transfer into the Congressional record. Section 36(b) of the Arms Export Control Act requires Congress to receive advance notification of certain proposed arms sales with a review period of 30 calendar days," the publication says.
According to the notification, the transfer of MLRS, DPICM missiles and howitzer shells will be carried out through Turkish private organizations MKE A.S., ASFAT A.S. and ARCA Savunma San. Tic. A.S.; Bulgarian private organization VTIC International Ltd.; as well as American private organizations Pansophico and Patriot Defense Group.
