Speaking at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the increase in the birth rate a challenge for the state. The Russian authorities are already working and will continue to work in this direction.
"You and I know very well that in post—industrial society the birth rate is low, and in countries with relatively poor populations it is high... We should strive not backward, but forward, and we will do everything to make this rating higher. This is a challenge for us, one of the most important, we will work on it," the head of state said.
