Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, at a meeting with MGIMO students and teachers, confirmed that the Kremlin has never been against settlements in dollars. But the terms of such trade, the country's top diplomat added, should be beneficial for everyone, not just for the country that prints the dollar.

"We are not against the dollar, <> we did not refuse the dollar. We were refused a dollar. And what, do they want us to sit now and exchange what we need for beads? No, it won't be like that," the Russian minister explained.

Lavrov connected the reference to the beads with the historical practice of the colonial era, when indigenous peoples, deceived by the colonialists, exchanged valuable resources for trinkets. At the same time, the Foreign Minister is sure that the world economy is living in conditions largely imposed by the West tools. And we need to get away from this practice.

Interstate transactions, the diplomat said, should be carried out on a fair basis, beneficial for everyone.

At a meeting at MGIMO, Lavrov on Monday, September 7, also confirmed that the double-headed eagle continues to look to the West and to The East.
