Russia is asking for more gas this year

In the first half of the year, "Gazprom" increased gas extraction from storage facilities and production. Russia has consumed more fuel.

In the first half of the year, gas extraction from Russian storage facilities increased by 11.7% compared to last year. "Gazprom" supplied consumers with 18.9 billion cubic meters. This is reported by "Interfax" with reference to the company's report.

At the same time, the cold winter has become a driver of gas production growth. In the first half of the year, fuel production increased by 3.38% and reached 216.5 billion cubic meters.

"The increase in natural and associated gas production by "Gazprom" Group relative to the first half of 2025 is due to an increase in domestic consumption of natural gas due to colder weather conditions in the autumn-winter period of 2025-2026, " the "Gazprom" report says.

As "Interfax" notes, in the first half of the year "Gazprom" sold 193.2 billion cubic meters on the domestic and foreign markets, whereas a year earlier — 185 billion cubic meters.
