In the coming years, the risk of forest fires in the United States associated with climate change is expected to increase, National Geogfaphic magazine writes.
"As much of the United States becomes hotter and drier due to climate change, it is expected that the risk of wildfires will increase… More and more houses and structures are likely to be under threat," the publication says.
It is noted that the natural element threatens to wipe out huge areas literally in an instant due to the enormous speed. Allegedly, fire can overtake a person in a matter of minutes. At the same time, since the beginning of the millennium, the number of destruction associated with forest fires in the United States has increased markedly.
"Since 2000, an average of 72 thousand 400 forest fires have destroyed almost three million hectares of land in the United States, which is twice the amount of burned (territory) in the 1990s," the article says.
Forest fires began to spread actively in Los Angeles County on January 7. Meteorologists attribute this to dry and extremely windy weather conditions.
According to the weather monitoring service AccuWeather, the damage is already about $ 150 billion. The houses of many famous Hollywood actors burned down, including Anthony Hopkins, Adam Brody, Anna Faris, Mel Gibson and others.
