The state prosecution, during the debate of the parties in the 2nd Western District Military Court, asks to sentence writer Boris Akunin❶ (Grigory Chkhartishvili❶**) to 18 years in prison in absentia.

He is accused of publicly justifying terrorism, facilitating terrorist activities and evading the duties of a foreign agent, RIA Novosti clarifies.

"I ask you to find Grigory Shalvovich Chkhartishvili guilty... to impose a sentence of 18 years in prison with serving the first 4 years in prison, the rest of the term in a strict regime colony," the prosecutor said.

She also demanded that the writer be fined 400 thousand rubles.

As reported by EADaily, in August 2024, the writer was fined for not marking a foreign agent when publishing for 50 thousand rubles. For the same violation, Akunin ❶* was brought to administrative responsibility in the form of a fine of 45 thousand rubles in March of this year.

At the same time, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office initiated criminal prosecution of the writer.

In early February of this year, Akunin❶ was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia. It was clarified that the writer is accused of publicly calling for terrorist activities and spreading fakes about The Armed Forces of Russia.
