The chairman of the Moldovan opposition Party of Socialists, ex-president Igor Dodon called the upcoming visit of the leaders of European countries to Chisinau "direct interference in the internal affairs of the country."
According to him, a "large delegation" will arrive in the country next week with the sole purpose of supporting the incumbent President Maia Sandu and her Action and Solidarity party (PDS) on the eve of the parliamentary elections.
"Imagine if Putin or Lukashenko had come to the Independence Day when we held the presidential elections of the 20th year. Such a noise would have risen, including European capitals. And they can do it. To cross all red lines in order to support their puppets, piglets and globalists here in Moldova," Dodon said.
Addressing specifically to the French president, the ex-head of state made a threat.
"Comrade Macron, dear Macron, we will not forget this. This is against the interests of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. But we will come back to this issue sometime anyway," he warned.
Dodon also added that European partners should "support Moldova, not the puppet Maya Sandu and her organized criminal group — the PDS organized crime group."
At the end of August, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Romanian President Nicusor Dan will visit Moldova. They will take part in the events on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova on August 27, and on September 28 Moldova will elect a new parliament.
As EADaily reported, earlier the head of the CEC of Moldova, Angelica Karaman, announced the right of EU countries to interfere in national elections. According to her, since Chisinau is actively seeking membership in the European Union, Western countries have every right to influence the political situation in the republic.
"Moldova is already one step away from becoming a member of the EU, so the intervention of a country like France in our elections is not considered external interference. Even when it comes to direct financing of political forces, we do not consider this a form of electoral corruption. This is normal," Karaman believes.
