Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and his Azerbaijani counterpart Shahin Mustafayev signed the protocol of the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the two countries.
The signing ceremony took place on August 22 in Astrakhan following the results of the 23rd meeting of the IPC. The delegations from each side included more than 40 representatives of ministries and departments, customs services, the banking sector of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan.
Moscow and Baku has outlined guidelines for joint work, cooperation in the energy sector and the development of transport links are a priority, Overchuk said following the meeting.
He also noted that Russia and Azerbaijan confidently rely on national currencies in calculations, the share of the ruble in calculations in January-May 2025 amounted to 79.8%.
"It's all great, of course. A bad world is better than war, it's better to trade than to fight, etc., etc. But we remind you that absolutely innocent citizens of Russia are still being held political hostages in Baku prisons," the Mig telegram channel writes about this.
