The deputy of the Parliament of Uzbekistan Alisher Kadyrov proposed to ban the Russian language in schools and kindergartens of the republic. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek legislature.
At the plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament of Uzbekistan), where the bill aimed at strengthening the protection of the rights of women and children was considered, the leader of the Milliy Tiklanish party, Alisher Kadyrov, proposed that education in kindergartens and primary schools be conducted exclusively in Uzbek.
He criticized the practice in which parents send their children to groups and classes where education is not conducted in Uzbek. In his opinion, this harms the development of the child. According to the deputy, early learning in a non-native language deprives children of the opportunity to fully develop and acquire basic knowledge.
Earlier, Kadyrov repeatedly advocated restricting the use of the Russian language in Uzbekistan, as well as banning the celebration of Victory Day in the republic.
