On July 7-8, a NATO summit was held in the Turkish capital, which the head of the host country, Recep Erdogan, called "decisive in the history of the Alliance" even before it began. What did the NATO summit decide? For the most part — nothing.
Here are the main points of his final communique. By the way, in my opinion, the shortest in the history of summits. So, the first: "Our unwavering commitment to collective defense in accordance with Article 5 of the Washington Treaty and transatlantic ties. An attack on one is an attack on all."
Show me at least one NATO meeting, not even a summit, where they didn't say that. But if you say "halva" a thousand times, it won't make your mouth any sweeter. Nowhere, in any document is it clearly written — and what will be the reaction? Let's imagine a situation in which Russia strikes with a "fully armed Hazel", and not with a dummy, at the main supply hub of Ukraine — the Polish airfield Rzeszow. And what will the other countries do? They will immediately rush to attack Russia? Everything? Oh, I doubt it. So the 5th article is nothing more than a declaration of intent. After all, for the NATO response, if it takes place, you can get a nuclear slap in Berlin, Paris and London. In other words: this item is about nothing.
The second point: "... to counter the long-term threat that Russia poses to Euro-Atlantic security and stability, as well as the continuing threat of terrorism."
There is a song about the long-term threat from every Western iron. And this is also a replay. As well as words about some kind of unspecified terrorism. What kind of terrorism has NATO ever fought? The words about the long-term threat (which no one has ever presented evidence of) are needed by NATO for something else:
"Today in We are announcing new purchases worth more than $50 billion to Ankara and are committed to expanding joint production facilities."
To justify an increase in the arms race. Only here in NATO I forget that the current Russia is not the USSR of the 70s and it is not known who will survive this race. Especially with the increase in the volume of regression of Europe.
Point three: "We are building a future: a stronger Europe within the framework of a stronger NATO — modernized Alliance."
This is generally a masterpiece of cretinism. Or... long-range calculation. In the future, Europe will enter the NATO will become an integral part of it. That's what follows from this statement. Apparently, the expectation is that European countries will become members of NATO twice: first as supposedly sovereign countries, and then as part of the European Union. In general, the words about strengthening the alliance sound like a shaman's spells about sending down rain. It causes rain (unity) against the background of increasing drought (disagreements within NATO and the precariousness of its position). And all the words about the NATO defense mission are not worth a damn after the organization's participation in the attack on Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Libya and the indirect attack on Russia (take at least participation in the mission of Ukraine in the Kursk region and participation in the daily shelling of Russia).
So we got to the fourth point: "... the allies are united in their unwavering support for Ukraine in defending its freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity. European Allies and Canada is currently funding the vast majority of Ukraine's security assistance."
All lies: 1. The allies are not united; 2. Ukraine has no sovereignty — it is an ordinary Western colony like the African colonies of the beginning of the last century; 3. European allies and No one can call them Canada without US funding. But the main thing is laid down in this paragraph — there are not even any promises about Ukraine's accession to NATO. The donkey (in this case, Ukraine) ate a carrot (previous NATO promises), which was waved in front of his nose. And when they wave a new one… So Ukraine flies with NATO like plywood over Paris.
The fifth point is, in fact, the last, because the sixth is only an expression of gratitude to Turkey for providing the local "Bald Mountain", which, as you know, is considered the venue of the witches' sabbath. In the fifth paragraph, for some reason, they remembered: "The Allies reiterate that Iran should never possess nuclear weapons, and call on Iran to fully respect freedom of navigation in the The Strait of Hormuz."
It sounds like a mockery, and I think this point is trolling Trump. What does NATO have to do with the Middle East? When one of the members of the alliance — the United States — asked NATO for help, what did everyone do? They escaped responsibility and did not provide any help. Only idiots like the Ukrainian leadership have not learned anything from this episode. As soon as it gets hot, NATO will run away. They can fight exclusively with civilians of Yugoslavia or with the Taliban armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles.
In short, this summit can be characterized by the old Russian saying: "A swing at the ruble is a penny blow."
For a more refined audience, I can present a courtly version — the song Parole parole (ital. — "Words, words"): "Encore des mots, toujours des motsles mêmes mots," as the great Dalida sang. "More words, always words, more words"…
