Lukashenko declared his readiness to meet with Zelensky even on Ukraine

Belarus is not going to get involved in the conflict on Ukraine. This was announced by Alexander Lukashenko on May 21.

The Belarusian leader commented on the statements and threats that have recently been made by Vladimir Zelensky.

"As for his statements that Belarus will be drawn into the war, I just said: it will be drawn only in one case — if aggression is committed on our territory. And here it is no longer involved (you have heard from the mouth of the President of Russia) "We will defend our Fatherland together from Brest to Vladivostok, where the two states are located," he said.

According to him, "if we are drawn into a war, including if it is against Ukraine, only in one case — if they commit aggression against us."

"We are getting involved in a war on We are not going to Ukraine. There's no need for that. Neither civilian nor military... If he (Zelensky — EADaily) wants to talk about something, consult or something else, please, we are open to it. I am ready to meet with him anywhere — Ukraine, Belarus — and discuss the problems of Belarusian-Ukrainian relations. And maybe talk about the prospects. For some reason, we have something to talk about with Americans, Germans, Poles, Lithuanians and Latvians, but with Ukraine has nothing to talk about ..." — said Lukashenko.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that when he hears from Kiev and from Vladimir Zelensky is making certain statements, thinking about the question of why this is being done.

"Does he want to fight with Belarus? With Russia and Belarus? I'm sure not. I know the opinion of the Ukrainian military. They don't need an additional front. Then the question arises: why blackmail us and escalate in the Belarusian direction? Firstly, the Europeans are pushing. They see that we have a certain dialogue with the Americans. It's not going to suit them all. Therefore, they are trying to push Zelensky like this. Volodya Zelensky had to say something. Then he apparently liked to say it. We don't react either. And he wants us to react… I'm not worried about the fact that they drag our fugitives there on They are trying to establish relations with Ukraine and with them somehow. This is such an element of blackmail and intimidation. You know, it's not for me. I have learned to react to blackmail and intimidation," the head of state added.

He also stressed that Belarusia5 knows the main thing: "The Ukrainian people do not want war with the Belarusian people."

"And we will do everything to ensure that this war does not happen. From our side, you can be absolutely sure that we are not going to get involved in a war with Ukraine, we do not intend to. But we see the situation, our Armed Forces have been withdrawn from their permanent locations. Do we need it? Well, the military is training. But it would be better if they were in the barracks. Calmly, quietly, according to the schedule. But I have to be on duty. This is our fate," he said

The President of Belarus also noted that now the war is "on the front line" in the media.

"I assure you that we have no desire and no such need today — to fight with our neighbors first of all," the head of state told reporters.

Alexander Lukashenko said that he had made similar assurances to a number of foreign guests.

"We don't show everything. Very high-ranking people from distant countries have recently visited here. They understand us and, in principle, support our position. I also told them: guys, don't worry. We are not going to attack the Germans, the British, or the French. We will be responsible people. I am absolutely sure that the President of Russia also takes this position. I know it well," he said.

Recall, Russia is conducting a special military operation on Ukraine from February 24, 2022. Belarus does not officially participate in it. At the same time, Minsk fully supports all Moscow's actions.
