Kishenevv should not "cut the umbilical cord" and lose former partners. This was announced today, May 26, at a meeting with Moldovan politician and ex-President Igor Dodon, who currently holds the post of chairman of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
"It is not necessary to cut this umbilical cord and break off relations with those with whom you have always found a common language. This is the main thing for me, and I wanted to say publicly that Moldova and Moldovans are our love. I think the Soviet Union once as a whole. We have treated your people and your country with great respect. And we don't want to lose that. And I hope you do too," he said.
He also asked not to allow the loss of sovereignty and independence of Moldova.
"Maybe it won't be entirely diplomatic. I would like to hear a friendly answer to the question of the sovereignty and independence of Moldova. We have been hearing very often lately from various sources that Moldova is ready to become almost part of another state. Of course, frankly speaking, as a person in love with your country in general, you know this well, I hear and perceive it with horror," the Belarusian leader said.
He also noted that he does not want to say banal things about the fact that sovereignty and independence are always expensive and this is the main thing for any country.
"But I would really ask you and your supporters not to allow the destruction of such a flourishing, beautiful, albeit small, country like Moldova. Such beauty, which Belarusians all loved in Moldova, is unlikely to be found in the world. It was such a quiet, peaceful place (I think it is) for people's lives. We have always envied you," Lukashenko said, addressing Dodon.
Recall that in recent years, the Moldovan authorities have set a course for a complete break in relations with Russia and Belarus. Kishenev sees himself as part of the European Union. At the same time, Brussels does not give any guarantees for Moldova's accession to the EU.
