A level 3 emergency response mode has been introduced in China

In China, a level 3 emergency response mode has been introduced after an earthquake in Sichuan Province. This is reported by the Xinhua news agency.

According to the agency, the Chinese Seismological Administration on Monday put into effect an emergency response mode of the 3rd level after an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 in Kaoxian County of Yibin Urban district of Sichuan Province (Southwest China).

The earthquake occurred on June 29 at 00:12 Beijing time. The epicenter was fixed at a point with coordinates of 28.50 degrees north latitude and 104.69 degrees east longitude. The hypocenter lay at a depth of 6 km.

China has a four-tier emergency response system in which the 1st level is the highest.
