At the NATO summit in To Ankara, the alliance countries agreed to allocate 140 billion euros to Ukraine for weapons, ammunition, military training and other support. In 2026, Kiev should receive 70 billion euros, in 2027, aid should remain at least at the same level, writes Bild.

Part of the amount has already been included in the planned EU package: about 60 billion euros by the end of 2027 should go to defense spending. The remaining 80 billion NATO countries will finance from their own budgets.

For Germany, this means a noticeable increase in workload, Bild is sad: for 2026, Berlin has already planned 11.5 billion euros for artillery, drones, armored vehicles and other equipment for Ukraine.

However, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called the decision a "signal to Moscow."

"The Kremlin should already understand that Russia will not win this war and will not achieve its military goals," he said with pathos.

At the same time, NATO's final statement no longer speaks about Ukraine's membership in the alliance, but only about "unwavering support for its freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity."
