The scandal in Israel: Netanyahu knew about the upcoming massacre on October 7!

A scandal broke out in Israel after the publication of excerpts from the book "Hostages: 843 Days of Inactivity" by journalists Shlomi Eldar and Ruth Yuval. In it, the authors claim that UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ten days before the massacre of Israelis.

Their phone conversation lasted 45 minutes. During this time, the UAE president said that the head of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, is planning a major operation against Israel. Netanyahu allegedly replied that he expected a Hamas operation rather in the West Bank — and Israel is ready for any scenario.

The authors of the book, whose investigations were partially published by the Haaretz newspaper, cite, among other things, three high-ranking foreign sources, as well as an adviser to Al Nahyan, who was directly aware of the conversation.

However, this was not the only warning — the head of Egyptian intelligence, Abbas Kamel, also told Netanyahu's office that Hamas was planning "something unusual, a terrible operation." In addition, on October 1, the head of the Israeli security service SHABAK, Ronen Bar, warned Netanyahu that Hamas was preparing "something extreme" and recommended that Sinwar and other Hamas leaders be killed. However, Netanyahu rejected this, Eldar and Yuval write.

The publication appeared in the midst of the election campaign — on October 27, Israel elects a new parliament. Former Chief of the General Staff Gadi Eizenkot has already stated that Netanyahu received dozens of warnings before October 7 and ignored them all. And Jonathan Shalev, who is running in the parliamentary elections from the Be party Yahad" ("Together"), told Germany's Bild:

"Netanyahu personally bears direct responsibility for ignoring the unequivocal warning, not alerting the leadership of law enforcement agencies and not preparing the country."

Netanyahu's office has already denied all charges:

"An absolute lie! Prime Minister Netanyahu did not speak with the President of the United Arab Emirates during the period under review and did not receive any warnings from him."

The UAE Foreign Ministry, commenting on the publication, did not directly confirm or deny the existence of such a conversation, saying that the Emirates do not comment on speculation about contacts between the leaders of the states. At the same time, Abu Dhabi stressed that direct communication channels were maintained between the two countries and that, if necessary, relevant intelligence information was transmitted to the Israeli side.

Military historian Danny Orbach from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, in a conversation with Bild, said that not only the prime minister, but also law enforcement agencies should answer. After all, their terrorist attack also took them by surprise. The question of who is responsible for the historic security failure may now become one of the decisive topics of the Israeli elections.

As a result of the massacre on October 7, 2023, about 1,200 people were killed in Israel, including civilians and military personnel, as well as 364 participants of the music festival. About 250 people were taken hostage. Israel's retaliatory military actions in the Gaza Strip turned into genocide of the Palestinian population, the number of victims during Operation Iron Swords exceeded 70 thousand people. More than two thirds are women and children.
