It became known about Putin's decision on Volodin

Vyacheslav Volodin will remain as chairman of the State Duma of the new convocation, two federal officials and a source close to the presidential administration told RBC.

According to them, such a decision has already been made, but, as they emphasize, it will be finally approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin before the first plenary session. At the same time, two interlocutors of the publication in the lower house of parliament drew attention to the fact that decisions of this level may change even on the eve of the first plenary session.

It is also noted that Volodin has recently been actively involved in the discussion of the new composition of the State Duma, and his opinion was taken into account as the most likely leader of the lower house of parliament.

In the elections that followed, Volodin headed the territorial group for his native Saratov region, and also ran for the party in Saratov single-mandate constituency No. 164, where he won with a result of 82.84%.

If the powers of the Speaker of the State Duma are extended, this will be a record of tenure. Recall that Volodin has been chairman of the lower house of parliament for the last ten years, that is, two terms.

According to the legislation, the head of the State Duma is elected by the deputies themselves from among those who received a mandate.
