The Czech authorities accused Germany of accumulating gas destined for the Czech Republic. This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to a letter from the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Josef Sikela.
In the message, Sikela said that from October 1, the German company Gascade Gastransport GmbH plans to reduce the output power of the connection point on the border of the two countries from the current 69 GWh to 14.5 GWh.
"This situation creates an incentive for some Member States The EU should maximize gas imports from the east. In extreme cases, such low capacity would barely be enough for the Czech gas market, but in no case could it significantly contribute to supplies to other countries," he said.
The Czech minister informed European Commission Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson and German Economy Minister Robert Habeck about the current situation.
Recall that the EU countries, including the Czech Republic, after the start of a special military operation on Ukraine has declared its desire to completely abandon Russian gas. At the same time, Russia continues to be one of the largest suppliers of "blue fuel" to the European market. The decision of the German operator of the transport system to reduce capacity may disrupt the plans of the countries The EU and complicate the desire of Eastern European countries to reduce their dependence on Russian gas.
