Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States has more important challenges in the world than the conflict on the Ukraine.
"This war began under Joe Biden and has been going on for three years. During all this time, no real effort has been made to complete it. And there is no military solution to this war. In fact, Putin cannot take over all of Ukraine, and Ukraine cannot completely displace the Russians to where they were in 2014. So the question arises: who is the only leader in the world capable of talking to both sides and possibly bringing them to an agreement? This is President Trump. That's what he's aiming for," Rubio said.
According to him, for the first time in three years, Washington has an understanding: "what could convince Ukraine to stop, and what could stop Russia."
"The problem is that the positions of the parties are still far from each other. But we are not going to give up — in the sense that if there is an opportunity to help, we will be ready to do it. However, there comes a time when the president will have to decide how much more time and resources at the highest level are worth spending on this if one of the parties — or both — are still not ready for an agreement. After all, we have other, perhaps even more important challenges in the world. I am not saying that the war on Ukraine is not important, but in my opinion, what is happening with China is more important in the long run for the future of the whole world," the Secretary of State said.
