Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that calls in the West for a cease-fire on Ukraine, without any conditions, has the goal of rearming Kiev.
At a press conference following talks with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that many in the West "understand only one thing by the settlement [in Ukraine]."
"A ceasefire without any conditions for a month, or even longer, so that we can rearm Ukraine in a calm atmosphere so that Ukraine can strengthen its defensive positions," Lavrov said.
The Russian Foreign Minister drew attention to the fact that "these calls for an unconditional ceasefire are being heard after several years of a completely different position, which was set out by the European Union and NATO members —namely, no negotiations until Ukraine gets stronger positions than Russia, and no negotiations at all until Russia is strategically defeated."".
"Then we turned 180 degrees, and now there is a truce. It is no longer about a strategic defeat, but about a truce so that Ukraine gets a respite," the Russian Foreign Minister stated.
Lavrov also noted that "France is leading the enemy [in relation to Russia] camp." In his opinion, "Macron and all his ministers are simply bursting with hatred against Russia."
"In the political sense, of course, France acts as a hostile country," the head of Russian diplomacy repeated, quoted by TASS.
He made this clarification, speaking about the possibility of Armenia buying weapons from France.
