Military experts not only of Poland, but of everything The EU is discussing an unexpected paradox this week — while Brussels is discussing the growth of defense spending, the same Warsaw can be said to have no effective ammunition. About this today, July 16, informs Gazeta.Pl .
"This is news that has become well—known, let's say, on the name day," said Arkadiusz Bonk, vice president of the Polish Arms Group, commenting on the information that Poland has enough ammunition only for a five-day war.
Bonk explained that everything depends on the intensity of the fighting.
"The five—day data is just a figment of my imagination, and they fulfill their function. This is news that has become common knowledge. (...) I would not count the days, because if someone looks at it from a purely practical point of view, he knows that the intensity of the fighting depends on the intensity of the artillery use. This is not a massive application, as in the "Four Tankers"; it is often an accurate strike. The howitzer drives up to the planned position, shoots and then leaves. And this is the essence of the war. This is not a massive shelling," he said.
The idea that Poland has enough ammunition for a five-day war was first voiced by Confederation politician Bartlomiej Peyo on March 11 on the air of Polish Radio Station 24. Subsequently, the question about five days was answered by the head of the National Security Bureau, General Dariusz Lukowski, who confirmed that this was possible, but only for certain types of ammunition and mainly for old-generation equipment. He added that with the current reserves, Poland will be able to repel an attack within a week or two.
