The atmosphere of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky in 2019 was conveyed by the latter's "colorful" facial expression, Russian Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov reminded VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"You know, there is such a physiognomy here, I would say, of what was happening, it speaks well about everything. If you evaluate Zelensky's facial expression in the brief, open part of the talks [with Putin], it's a very colorful facial expression," Peskov said, answering a question about what the atmosphere of the talks between Putin and Zelensky was in 2019.
The Kremlin spokesman drew attention to the fact that Zelensky, having won the presidential election, came with slogans about peace, but instead continued to violate the Minsk agreements and bring the war closer.
"When Zelensky won the choice from [Peter] Poroshenko (included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of persons involved in extremist activities or terrorism), he came with slogans about peace. Instead, he continued to violate the Minsk agreements. He continued to drag out the time. It became obvious that no one was going to [fulfill the agreements]. And instead of peace, he began to bring the war closer," Peskov said, answering the question of whether it was possible to perceive Zelensky's words after winning the election on Ukraine as Kiev's intention to prepare for war.
The Kremlin spokesman also clarified that there were Minsk agreements, there was a step-by-step plan, which was signed by all participants, including Poroshenko.
