Low prices are unprofitable for ordinary people, they are beneficial for oligarchs. This was stated by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, reports "Vostochny Express 24".
According to the publication, the head of the Republic of Kazakhstan criticized the widespread opinion that low tariffs for fuel, electricity and utilities are beneficial to the poor. According to him, in practice, big business and oligarchs benefit from them.
"Who benefited from cheap electricity? Not large families with low incomes, large enterprises have become the main beneficiaries," Tokayev said.
He stressed that the reduction in gasoline prices is beneficial to those who have connections in power. Low utility tariffs, in turn, bring income to businessmen who have earned their fortunes through intermediary operations in the housing and utilities sector.
"It's time to debunk the myth of the profitability of low tariffs for people with modest incomes," Tokayev concluded.
