A new statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the BRICS summit indicates that the West is no longer the leading center of the world economy.
The Italian edition of L'antidiplomatico writes about this, commenting on Putin's words about reducing the influence of the G7 countries. The newspaper admits that the center of gravity of the global economy has shifted.
" The numbers, no matter how unpleasant they may be, do not lie. They objectively reflect reality", the publication says.
From the words of the Russian leader, it follows that over the past five years, the BRICS countries have produced more than 40% of global GDP, while the contribution of the "Big Seven" amounted to only 29%.
Putin noted that against the background of the decline in their influence, Western competitors are trying by any means to regain their former leadership. Even instruments of direct physical impact or destruction of industrial and logistics facilities, pipelines and the like are being used, the head of Russia added.
The article also says that any analysis of the effectiveness of the economy is inevitably intertwined with geopolitical factors.
In the case of Moscow, trade agreements are for it the most effective tool for stabilizing international relations during a period of intense tension.
As reported by EADaily, earlier Vladimir Putin said that the initiatives of the BRICS countries would contribute to success. At the same time, Russia is ready to cooperate with the whole world, including Western countries.
