The US F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing at the base after the Iranian shelling. This is reported by CNN, citing sources.
An American F-35 made an emergency landing at a US air base in the Middle East after it allegedly came under Iranian fire, two sources said. According to the representative of the US Central Command, Captain Tim Hawkins, the fifth-generation stealth jet was "performing a combat mission over Iran."
"The aircraft landed safely and the pilot is in stable condition," Hawkins added.
This is the first time in the current US Iranian campaign that Iran has hit an American F-35 aircraft. Its cost exceeds $ 100 million, CNN reports.
The emergency landing of the American fighter jet occurred against the background of ongoing US statements about the widespread success in the Iranian campaign, the note says. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth said today that the United States is "decisively winning" and that Iran's air defenses have been "leveled" to the ground.
As reported by EADaily, due to Iran's attack on the Prince Sultan airbase in Saudi Arabia, which is also used by the US Air Force, five tanker aircraft were damaged. This was reported on March 13 by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.
