To combat the energy crisis in the EU, it is necessary to use an administrative resource. This plan was made by the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda.
According to him, the EU "should introduce temporary measures to reduce electricity prices for industry so that enterprises can already use cheaper electricity."
"We must introduce temporary measures to reduce electricity prices for industry so that enterprises can already use cheaper electricity. Apply targeted and short-term measures to curb rising fuel prices. A temporary funding mechanism at the EU level would be extremely useful. Despite the instability in the oil and gas markets, Lithuania opposes any initiatives related to the use of Russian energy resources," he said.
At the same time, Nauseda stressed that Lithuania calls for "accelerating the diversification of sources, developing local clean energy and investing in critical energy infrastructure, electric power connections and energy storage systems." In his opinion, "this is a key condition for the growth of the European economy and the competitiveness of our enterprises in world markets."
Recall that the EU decided to abandon Russian oil and gas after 2022. This provoked a sharp rise in energy prices in European countries. The conflict in the Middle East has only made the situation worse. However, Brussels, like the Baltic countries, which are completely dependent on energy imports, refuse to change their position.
