On the eve of the professional holiday, the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, announced the start date of gas supplies to China via the Far Eastern route.
"In January 2027, very soon, in a few months, we will introduce a new export gas pipeline to China — the Far Eastern route. And I want to note that the work is being carried out exactly according to plan and strictly in accordance with our obligations under the contract," said Alexey Miller.
According to him, cooperation with the People's Republic of China is developing successfully and gas supplies via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline this year, as well as in previous years, set new daily records.
"We have good results this year and in Central Asia. We have increased our supplies to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan by a total of almost 70%," the head of Gazprom said.
On the eve of Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at the Eastern Economic Forum that by 2030 China's share will be 60% of Russia's total gas exports.
The Far Eastern Route is the second project to supply pipeline gas to China. It involves the export of 10 billion cubic meters of gas produced on the Sakhalin shelf. Last year, contractual obligations increased to 12 billion cubic meters. While the "Power of Siberia" — from 38 to 42 billion cubic meters.
In recent years, China has become the main importer of Russian gas.
