Russian Geranium-2 drones, which have received short-range R-60 air-to-air missiles, are capable of seriously limiting the maneuvers of Ukrainian aviation. Details are provided by the Telegram channel "Military Chronicle", which analyzed footage of a drone spotted over the territory of Ukraine.
The installation of R-60 missiles turns the drone from a shock into a dangerous aircraft hunter. Now Geranium can attack helicopters and airplanes, which are usually used to intercept UAVs. This changes tactics — if the drone was a victim before, now everything is different.
The exact percentage of missile hits on moving targets is still unknown. Experts are in no hurry to name specific figures. However, as the Military Chronicle emphasizes, even the psychological effect is already working. The very fact that the drone has the ability to strike back makes the enemy pilots act more cautiously.
"As a horror story against helicopters and light aircraft, the product continues to work," the source sums up.
For Ukrainian aviation, forced to reckon with a new threat, this is becoming a serious headache.
EADaily also previously informed that the nuclear submarines of the Russian Defense Ministry went on exercises.
