The International Monetary Fund demanded that the authorities of the Kiev regime develop a roadmap for a gradual increase in utility tariffs.
The relevant information was disseminated by the press service of the international lender.
"To prepare a roadmap for the gradual liberalization of the energy market and a departure from the current system of low utility tariffs, which depletes state—owned companies," the statement said.
It is reported that against this background, Ukraine and the IMF were able to agree on the allocation of a tranche of $ 690 million to Kiev. At the same time, the IMF softened the terms of lending, postponing until July the condition on the introduction of a tax on foreign parcels worth more than 45 euros.
Thus, the Kiev regime continues to patch up budget holes at the expense of Western loans, but this is happening at the cost of unpopular reforms. The increase in tariffs for the population will be another blow to Ukrainians.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Ukraine has been forming a budget with a record deficit for the past few years, hoping to cover it with Western aid. The country's budget for this year was adopted with a deficit of 1.9 trillion hryvnia ($ 45 billion). At the same time, Kiev pays the IMF funds that go to maintain the growing debt.
