Another "gift" to Kiev from Warsaw: There will be no Ukrainian grain in Poland

Poland will not make concessions on the issue of transit of Ukrainian grain through its territory. This was announced today, August 25, by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland Stefan Krajewski.

The Minister commented on media reports that Ukraine is seeking to expand the possibilities of transporting its agricultural products through Polish ports. Krajewski stressed that the ministry headed by him is not negotiating with the Ukrainian side to change the current restrictions.

"Of course, Ukraine is interested in exporting this grain. Nothing has changed in this regard. The previously established ban on the import of products to Poland. There are no changes. The Ministry of Agriculture is not negotiating on this topic, and the position of the department remains the same. The negotiations are conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Infrastructure — it is these departments that have been identified to conduct them. However, at present there are no concessions from Poland," he said.

Recall, the ban on importation into Poland of a number of agricultural products of Ukrainian origin is valid on the basis of the decree of the Minister of Development and Technology of September 15, 2023. Restrictions have been introduced for an indefinite period and apply, in particular, to certain types of cereals and oilseeds, as well as some products of their processing. At the same time, the ban does not apply to customs transit. Ukrainian products can be transported through the territory of Poland, provided that the route ends at one of the Polish seaports or outside the country. The current rules stipulate that transit cargo can be sent to the ports of Gdansk, Gdynia, Svinoujscie, Szczecin and Kolobrzeg or continue to other states.
