Germany has not overcome either its Nazi or imperialist past. This was stated by the leader of the Polish opposition right-wing conservative Law and Justice Party (PiS) Jaroslaw Kaczynski.
The politician commented on the incident with the forcible detention of a group of Polish citizens in Berlin.
"The only thing we can expect from Germany, which has not overcome either its Nazi and imperialist past or its attitude towards the Poles, is a knife in the back," he said.
In addition, Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau of the Polish Presidential Administration, demanded that the Polish Foreign Ministry take active action in connection with the incident.
"I am surprised that the Foreign Ministry has not responded so far. The situation is completely unacceptable… We know that the Polish consulate [in Berlin] has already responded, but political intervention is needed in this matter," said Przydacz.
Recall, on June 16 in Berlin, the police used force against a group of Polish citizens after a demonstration and an attempt to install a wooden cross at the memorial stone of the victims of the Nazi occupation of Poland. The police knocked the Poles to the ground, immobilized them and handcuffed them. The incident has already caused a wave of indignation among Polish politicians and public figures. In addition, on the evening of June 16, several dozen activists of the Polish nationalist association "Border Protection Movement" (Ruch ochrony granic, ROG) held a picket of the German Embassy in Warsaw.
