The word "youth" should be understood as people under the age of 40. This was stated to RIA Novosti by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education Gennady Onishchenko.
Now, according to federal law, Russian citizens from 14 to 35 years old inclusive are considered to be young people. According to Onishchenko, this boundary does not take into account how long modern people maintain health, efficiency and a high level of mental and physical activity.
Before the adoption of the law "On Youth Policy in Of the Russian Federation" in December 2020, the upper age limit was 30 years.
Onishchenko believes that the age limit of young people should change taking into account the state of people's health. He noted that many people start families at the age of 40, and healthy citizens can continue to work after the age of 65 and at the same time receive a pension.
Earlier, this idea was supported by the Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.
