Against the background of abnormal heat in Germany, forest fires began, which caused the detonation of shells that had not exploded since the Second World War. This is reported by the German media today, June 28.

Near Berlin, the fire quickly spread near the municipality of Herzke in the Potsdam-Mittelmark area — the fire area is already about 100 hectares. Firefighters are fighting the flames for the second day at a temperature of about 40 °C. Emergency services are supported by farmers who use heavy machinery to extinguish the fire. However, the ongoing heat and drought increase the risk of further spread of fire.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, the whole village of Treisen was evacuated — about 650 people in total. Firefighters can not get close to the fire, because the area is replete with ammunition from the Second World War. Last night, explosions thundered on the spot.
