The aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle of the French Navy and its carrier group, which arrived at the French shores after a five-month deployment near the Strait of Hormuz, were involved in a mission to assess the situation on the Ukraine and Lebanon. This was stated by the commander of the group, Admiral Thibaut Odo de Posses.

"When we arrived in the eastern Mediterranean at the beginning of March, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron identified three priorities. The first was to ensure the safety of French facilities, our citizens and military personnel deployed in the region. Secondly, the president asked us to protect Cyprus, a member of the European Union and an ally of France. Finally, he instructed us to continue the task of assessing the situation in crisis regions, in particular at Ukraine and Lebanon, in connection with Israeli operations," the admiral said in an interview with the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche.

He did not specify exactly what role the carrier group was playing and what is meant by an "assessment" of the situation on the Ukraine.
