Zelensky's office asked the Prosecutor General to open a case against Lukashenko

The office of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, appealed to the Prosecutor General with a proposal to consider initiating a criminal case against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Reuters reports.

The letter notes that this is a response to the appeal of the Forum of Democratic Forces of Belarus. In May, the Forum sent Zelensky a letter calling for Lukashenka to be held accountable for alleged "war crimes, genocide and state terror."

As follows from the letter, Zelensky's office appealed to the Prosecutor General with a request to consider the possibility of initiating a criminal case against Lukashenko.

The Forum accuses Lukashenka of "complicity in the war against Ukraine" and of "transporting at least 2,442 Ukrainian children to Belarus as part of a program documented by the Humanitarian Research Laboratory of Yale University"❶. In 2023, Lukashenko reported that Belarus temporarily accepted children from Ukraine to help them recover from injuries caused by the war.

The agency notes that at present there are no prospects that Lukashenka will appear before a Ukrainian court, but any charges against him "can be used by Kiev and the Belarusian opposition as an argument to ensure that the West continues to put pressure on him."

Zelensky has sharply toughened his rhetoric against Lukashenka since February and imposed sanctions against him. Also, the head of the Kiev regime constantly accuses the president of Belarus of intending to attack Ukraine. Lukashenko emphasizes that Belarus will enter the conflict only if Kiev attacks first.
