The residents of Slovakia who refused Russian citizenship now want to return it

Residents of Slovakia, who had previously renounced Russian citizenship, are now interested in its restoration. The Russian Embassy in Bratislava recorded an increase in appeals from Slovak residents who had previously voluntarily surrendered Russian passports.

According to RIA Novosti, applicants are interested in the possibility of returning citizenship, but Russian legislation does not provide for its simplified restoration. Former citizens can apply on a general basis if all requirements are met.

"There is interest in the issue of acquiring Russian citizenship from persons who were previously citizens of the Russian Federation. The embassy receives relevant appeals, including requests to clarify the procedure for submitting documents," the diplomatic mission said.

The diplomats expressed their readiness to provide consulting support to the applicants, help them with documents and provide assistance within their powers.

The reason for the appeals to the embassy were discussions in local Russian-language social networks.

In particular, one woman who had already received a Slovak passport was looking for advice on returning a Russian one, and another, who handed it over three decades ago, said that her son had already become a Russian, and she plans to follow his example.

Earlier, EADaily reported that Italian movie star Ornella Muti, along with her daughter, model, singer and actress Nike Rivelli, are applying for Russian citizenship.
