Authorities of the Chinese Xiling Province have invited administration of Russian Primorye to build a high-speed railway connection to Vladivostok, the website of the Primorye Territory administration informs.
If implemented, it could the first cross-border high-speed railway between Russia and China.
A representative of the Chinese province had a meeting with Primorye Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky and they both showed interest in the project. Now, the Russian party intends to discuss the project with head of the Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin.
The Russian Railways are now in talks with China about building a railway connection from Moscow to China with estimated cost of 7 trillion rubles and the Silk Way project that is supposed to connect China with European and Middle East markets. Recently, the parties agreed on China increasing its investments into construction of the Moscow-Kazan section of the railway up to 600 bn rubles.
