Police in Tajikistan have detained 10 more suspected members of former defense minister Abduhalim Nazarzoda’s group.
According to local media, skirmishes occurred during an operation in the east of Tajikistan. One of the suspects refused to surrender and blasted himself.
On September 4, former Defense Minister Abduhalim Nazarzoda and his supporters launched riots against the government and hided in Ramit Gorge. The operation of the Tajik law enforcers against Nazarzoda and his supporters in Ramit Gorge lasted for several days, with almost 130 rebels detained and 30 killed. Several dozen surrendered. The general and a number of his men were killed in clashes.
Prosecutor General’s Office of Tajikistan launched criminal proceedings against the members of the terrorist group over an attempt to seize power, organize coup d’etat, as well as terror and other crimes.
