Fines for firewood threaten only those who chop and steal them in large quantities, meanwhile, People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yuriy Kamelchuk reassures citizens. According to him, the police will not go home with checks.
On October 10, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law according to which five to seven years in prison are required for storing firewood without proper documents, the Observer telegram channel reports. It is noted that changes have already been made to the Administrative and Criminal Codes, now the law is awaiting the signature of the president.
"Now there can be either administrative or criminal liability simply for storage, transportation or sale. For example, two people, spouses, keep firewood worth more than 30,000 hryvnia, do not have documents where they bought these firewood. Criminal liability is provided for from five to seven years," explained lawyer Alexey Kinebas.
